Yes, now that Jennylyn Mercado is putting on hold her showbiz career because she’s pregnant, GMA Artist Center is setting eyes on pretty Nadine Samonte to be the network’s next big star.

That’s why a few days ago, Nadine was presented to a select group of entertainment writers for them to know what plans GMAAC has for her at the moment. ….She’s now one of the GMAAC artists being promoted to be the network’s next big stars. But they would like to push Nadine’s career towards a more mature image. The young actress is amenable to this plan, saying “kinausap ako tungkol dito, sabi nila my career won’t move if I don’t do something different than being wholesome and sweet. So since I’m of age already, adult na ako, pumayag ako to accept mature roles now.”

Going mature for Nadine would mean no more playing sweety-sweety roles. Turning 20 this year, Nadine said she’s ready for mature roles, “huwag lang masyadong sexy. Kailangan wholesome pa rin in a way.” The network’s sexy actress is of course Katrina Halili.

In GMA’s Dramarama sa Hapon, Nadine’s shows have actually been consistent topraters, including of course “Maging Akin Ka Lamang” with Polo Ravales as her leading man.

But Nadine isn’t only a good actress, she’s also an effective endorser that’s why’s she has a number of endorsements (Gibi Shoes, CD Jeans, YSA Botanica, YSA Skincare, and She Sanitary Napkins).

Now that she has finished high school, Nadine would like to go to college and in fact has inquired from a London-affiliated college in Las Piñas where she plans to take up a course in advertising. What’s interesting in this school, Nadine found out, is that after the first year, she’ll be given a certificate and after the second year, she’ll get a diploma. On her third year, she’d be finishing a bachelor’s degree.

But did you know that when she was younger, Nadine wanted to become a pilot? “Kaya lang, ayaw ng nanay ko, she doesn’t want me to die young daw.” Nadine’s father, by the way, is a German. In real life, Nadine is Nadine Eidloth.

An adventurous girl, Nadine drives a big car, she’s into carting, and when she was young, she also took taekwondo lessons. Nadine lives with her mom in a new house (built from her own earnings!) in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
