It was a very exciting presentation that launched GMA 7’s latest action-fantasy series “Joaquin Bordado” with Robin Padilla in the title role and Iza Calzado as the female lead star.
Before the huge cast was introduced, an action-filled sequence was presented and what truly elicited awe from the the audience was a dare-devil aerial performance of a young girl. She happened to be Kylie, Robin’s own daughter. Her impressive and remarkable action/stunt skills made us feel she’d be a most interesting interviewee. But after the presentation, she vanished and when we asked Robin if we could interview his daughter, the actor begged off saying “huwag muna, Tita, 15 lang siya. At saka, pag marunong na siya mag-Tagalog.” Kylie and her siblings grew up in Australia with their mother, the former Liezl Sicangco.
In the action-packed comics-turned-primetime TV series, Kylie portrays a special role as Erenea, the mighty warrior girl tattoo of Joaquin Bordado. Now a contract star of GMA Artist Center, Kylie is gifted with skills in various disciplines of martial arts. She will soon be built up by GMA 7 as its newest “Action Princess.”
Iza considers her role challenging in that it requires intense emotions. As Sofia, she is the object of affection of two brothers, Joaquin and Jerome (played by Ian Veneracion).
This is also a most challenging assignment for Iza who has done horror-suspense roles in movies before “but first time ko to do this kind of role for the TV screen,” Iza said.
Also in the cast of “Joaquin Bordado” are Raph Padilla, Mark Herras, and the villains who make Joaquin’s life miserable: Eddie Garcia, Ian Veneracion, Rommel Padilla, John Regala, Mon Confiado, Rez Cortez and Antonio Aquitania.
“Joaquin Bordado” is about the adventures of Joaquin Apacible (Robin Padilla), a sales agent cum police asset/assassin whose life and death changes when he becomes the chosen heir of the powerful tattoos to continue the mission of defending the good from evil.
