KC Concepcion
Finally, the megastar’s daughter KC Concepcion has agreed to do her first dramatic role on TV and this is in ABS-CBN’s multi-awarded drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” KC’s episode.
Ever since KC, aptly dubbed “showbiz royalty,” came back from her studies in Paris and televiewers saw her TV special “From Pinas to Paris,” many including the entertainment press, have been wondering when KC would go into acting, either on the boob tube or the big screen. She has proven her mettle in stage plays and musicals, but it was taking her a while to unveil her acting skills on the screen.
At her recent press conference of ABS-CBN, KC sounded nervous as she was asked questions by the press.“I’m so excited...” she began. “It took 22 years for me to get here to be speaking before all of you about this project, which is a realization of a dream na di ko alam meron pala deep within me. Dream ko rin pala umarte, kasi kinalakihan ko ito, and I now feel fulfilled.”
Her mom, the megastar Sharon Cuneta of course, used to bring her to her shootings and tapings, she recalled, and there she would do her homeworks and then watched her mom work.“My inspiration is truly my mom, she’s the major influence of my craft. At an early age, nakita ko kasi ang commitment niya and dedication to her work.”
For someone who started in theater, KC revealed that from her experience, there’s really a big difference between acting in a musical and acting on television. “On TV, there’s no exaggeration, it’s a director’s medium, and you just have to trust your director for his vision...” In this case, KC’s director is Jerry Lopez Sineneng, who said “kinabahan ako when I was told it’s KC who I would be directing. Anak ni mega and Gabby Concepcion kasi yan. I soon found out, sobra ang commitment niya and passion to her craft. Mabilis siyang pumick-up. She’s really so dedicated to her craft.”
KC impressed both her director and co-stars with her performance. “Hanga ako diyan kay KC,” he said. “She is very intense in her performance, yet very professional. She comes to the taping on time, at inaaral niya talaga ang script niya.”
Jerry added that KC’s scenes were mostly Take 1s, to which KC expressed in addition, “being my first time officially to work before the camera, I had to do my best. But of course, nung una, ninerbiyos ako.”
In her first acting experience KC really went deeply dramatic and did a lot of crying. She confessed to being traumatized, especially in that scene in the morgue with her dead father (played by Ricky Davao) and that scene where she was urging mother (played by Agot Isidro) to be strong and not to give up.
The director said of these dramatic scenes: “Di ko talaga alam kung saan niya hinuhugot ang mga emosyon niya...”
Also featured in “MMK” tonight is Derek Ramsay, as KC’c leading man.
